Last year, Netflix announced a $400 million dollar deal for the rights to ‘Knives Out’ 2 and 3. The film was shot in Greece and has been wrapped up for more than a year. Director Rian Johnson released the official title today on Twitter. “Knives Out 2” will henceforth be known as ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.’

The director, who previously directed Looper and Star Wars: The Last Jedi, began a Twitter thread earlier today. He started out by sharing his admiration of Agatha Christie for “stretching out” the murder mystery or “whodunnit” genre.

He then shared his hope to embody Christie with Benoit Blanc’s character (played by Daniel Craig). And followed up with the first teaser into the second Knives Out film.

The film will bring back Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc, as well as some big Hollywood names like Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Jessica Henwick, Janelle Monae, Leslie Odom Jr., Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson, and Dave Bautista.

ScreenCrush says Netflix announced that the movie will drop “this holiday season”. As for the title “Glass Onion,” ScreenCrush speculates it could possibly be related to the Beatles song with the same title… what do you think?

Are you excited for the sequel’s release? What is your favorite Netflix movie?
