WATCH: Teaser For Hunger Games Prequel Set to Come Out Nov 2023
The teaser for The Hunger Games’ first prequel was released. Although it doesn’t show any of the characters or the plot, it does show the Songbird and Snake unfreezing. ScreenCrush says this marks yet another Hunger Games.
Director Francis Lawrence is set to direct. He previously worked on three of the four Hunger Games films as well as Water For Elephants and I Am Legend. The prequel will be based on a Suzanne Collins book, but the script adaptation will be written by Michael Arndt. He previously wrote scripts for movies such as Toy Story 3 and The Force Awakens.
Along with the teaser, Lionsgate released this synopsis of the film: “Years before he would become the tyrannical President of Panem, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) is the last hope for his fading lineage, a once-proud family that has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, the young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the girl tribute from impoverished District 12. But, after Lucy Gray commands all of Panem’s attention by defiantly singing during the reaping ceremony, Snow thinks he might be able to turn the odds in their favor. Uniting their instincts for showmanship and newfound political savvy, Snow and Lucy Gray’s race against time to survive will ultimately reveal who is a songbird, and who is a snake.”
Watch the teaser below! The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will release in theaters on November 17, 2023.
