NC Woman Won $2 Million Jackpot on Friday the 13th
An NC Education Lottery news release says an NC woman named Bridgers won the $2 million jackpot last Friday, which was Friday the 13th.
It seems the regularly unlucky holiday will never again be unlucky for Bridgers and her family. Fox46 says she bought her $20 winning Grand Money ticket at Tobacco Plus on St. Andrew Street in Tarboro.
The news release announcing the win also detailed how Bridgers, 47, didn’t actually think she won anything at first. She said, “I scratched the whole ticket, and I thought it wasn’t a winner. I glanced over it again, though, and then I saw the big two, and I was stunned.”
Once she realized it was a winner, she headed to the lottery headquarters where they asked her an important question. She could’ve either chosen to receive the prize in annual amounts of $100,000 over 20 years, or receive it all that day. She chose to take it all home that day. After taxes, the $1.2 million jackpot prize left Bridgers with $852,126 to take home.
Bridgers said she plans to use some of the money on her immediate family, and then eventually start her own business.
