Investigation Launched After 3 American Tourists Die At Bahamas Resort
Authorities are now investigating after 3 American tourists died under ‘mysterious circumstances’ at a Sandals resort in the Bahamas.
CNN says police say two men and a woman were found unresponsive in their villas on Friday. Another American woman was airlifted to a hospital and is now being treated in Miami. It’s not clear what caused the deaths, but autopsy results are pending.
Police say two of the individuals found dead had reported feeling ill the day before and had received medical treatment. Bahamian authorities say they don’t suspect foul play. There were no signs of trauma, but CNN says at least two of the people had suffered convulsions.
From TravelWeekly, Sandals released a statement on May 6th saying, “Nothing is more important to Sandals Resorts than the safety of our guests. It is with deep sadness that we can confirm the passing of three guests at Sandals Emerald Bay on May 6, 2022. A health emergency was initially reported and following our protocols we immediately alerted emergency medical professionals and relevant local authorities. We are actively working to support both the investigation as well as the guests’ families in every way possible during this difficult time. Out of respect for the privacy of our guests, we cannot disclose further information at this time.”
