Netflix announced that they are reimagining the “Spy Kids” movie franchise. In partnership with Spyglass Media, LLC, and Skydance, they are creating a new fifth Spy Kids film! It will follow the story of an all-new spy fam.

Deadline says director Robert Rodriguez will return to write, produce, and direct this reboot. He directed all four of the previous Spy Kids movies, and this will be the first movie since the 2011 “Spy Kids 4: All The Time In The World.”

Before that, Rodriguez also directed Spy Kids (2001), Spy Kids 2: The Island Of Lost Dreams (2002), and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over (2003). All four movies made $550 million worldwide.

Stars from these films include Antonio Banderas, Carla Gugino, Alan Cumming, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Tony Shalhoub, Alexa Vega, Daryl Sabara, Emily Osment, and Matt O’Leary. No word yet on which actors might be featured in this new film.

This will not be the first time Rodriguez has done work with Netflix. He also directed the 2020 action film We Can Be Heroes.

How should the director continue the “Spy Kids” adventure with this new family? Would you see the fifth Spy Kids movie?
