Why You Shouldn’t Skip Breakfast, Even If You’re Not Hungry
We’ve heard for years, ‘don’t skip breakfast, it’s the most important meal of the day.’ But what if you are not hungry, what do you do?
A nutritionist told HuffPost that breakfast helps to break the overnight fast and helps to kickstart and fuel your day. Eating breakfast also helps you to feel less ‘hangry’ later. Another important aspect of breakfast is that it forces you to make more mindful food decisions later on in the day, too.
More than 25% of people don’t eat breakfast. Almost 70% say they won’t wake up before 8am to make something to eat.
According to the nutritionists who spoke with HuffPost, it is best to eat something within two hours of waking up. There are multiple health benefits to this including promoting heart health, a healthy weight, steady blood pressure, and cognitive function.
I’m rarely ever hungry in the morning, and that’s a big reason why I don’t eat breakfast food. But, an important thing to remember is breakfast does not have to be a complex meal. Nutritionists says this could be fruit or yogurt, or a protein shake.
Are you a breakfast person? What’s your go-to breakfast in the morning?
