This New Dating App Matches You Based On Your Music Taste
This might be the coolest idea I’ve seen in a while. Power of Music (POM) is a new dating app that matches users to each other based on their music tastes.
The way it works is once a user signs up and creates a profile, they are asked to log in to either their Apple Music account or their Spotify account. Once the app has access to the music you listen to most, it runs an algorithm to see who has a compatible music taste as you. Input Magazine says the app also asks people to give their emotional responses to certain music.
The founder of the app Vihan Patel told BBC that he believes “music is a great vehicle for emotion“. He spoke on how his app is a new twist on the dating app scene. He thinks people are bored of the other “basic” dating apps including Bumble, Tinder, and Hinge.
The company is also hosting fun, music-involved events for users to meet. During one of their most recent events, the company partnered with another music company called identification_of_music. With them, they threw London users a dance party with an open bar! I hope they bring those events to the states! I just know it would be huge here.
