And, preferably, you should ask a version of this question: ‘When you look ahead six months to a year from now, and you picture the person in this role doing an excellent job, what do you picture?’

@brookerxyz says that asking a variation of this question will guarantee you get the job you want. First, he says it’ll show that you’re interested not only in the job but also in doing a good job. He also says it reveals more of what the job duties will actually look like, which will help you know if you actually want the job or not.
