Woman Hurt After Reckless Driver Causes Red Target Ball To Roll Into Her
This past Sunday, a reckless driver in the parking lot of a Target store in Tacoma, Washington hit one of the large red balls outside of the store. These red balls are shown in the image above. According to The News Tribune, the red ball came off its steel post in the ground and rolled into a pedestrian, a woman, who suffered a possible broken hip and a concussion. The ball had knocked her to the ground and when an officer went to help her, she had blood on her head. They then rushed her to a nearby hospital.
Witnesses say the 33-year-old was speeding excessively in a pedestrian walking area. After rolling into the woman, the red ball hit one of the pillars of the store, causing damage.
Witnesses also say the reckless driver almost hit other pedestrians. One man says he had to pull his wife and child to safety.
As to why the driver had acted so recklessly, witnesses say she looked like she had been talking to herself. She also seemed confused and appeared unable to sit still. The driver also told an officer she hadn’t slept the night before because she had taken methamphetamine.
The driver was charged with vehicular assault, reckless endangerment, and driving with a suspended or revoked license in the third degree. She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment and a $30,000 bond was set.
