Immersive Van Gogh Exhibit Coming to Charlotte in June
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to look up and see Van Gogh’s Starry Night as if it were the real night sky? I definitely have and I absolutely love Van Gogh’s work and specifically, his depiction of nature.
I am so excited that there is a new Immersive Van Gogh exhibit coming to Charlotte on June 18th! It’ll be at Camp North End (300 Camp Rd, Charlotte, NC 28206) in the historic Ford Building. The website boasts 500,000 cubic feet of projections, 60,600 frames of video, and 90,000,000 pixels in the entire exhibit. Wow! So basically, it’s all your favorite – and my favorite – Van Gogh paintings come to life.
Some of these paintings include Mangeurs de pommes de terre (The Potato Eaters, 1885), the Nuit étoilée (Starry Night, 1889), Les Tournesols (Sunflowers, 1888), and La Chambre à coucher (The Bedroom, 1889).
The experience will be COVID friendly with social distancing circles, a mask requirement, and reduced capacity.
It is a bit pricier than a normal art museum ticket, but I really think it’ll be worth it. Adult tickets start at $39.99 and can go up to $99.99 and kids ages 6-16 are $29.99. I’d buy tickets sooner than later though because all of June is already sold out completely (as of 4/8/21). Into July, the cheaper tickets seem to be selling out quickly so I’d get the jump here!
The exhibit will also have a gift shop where you can purchase all kinds of Van Gogh-themed apparel, keepsakes, and accessories. Are you interested in going? What’s the one Van Gogh painting you’d want to see? Learn more and even get a sneak peek at some of the audio that plays as part of the exhibit here!
