Karma? Scooter Braun Dropped By Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber And More
Taylor Swift famously sang Karma is her boyfriend, and Karma may just be doing its job with one Scooter Braun. Unless you live under a rock you are familiar with the feud between Swift and Scooter Braun. There was always a disdain Swift had for the talent manager. But when her former label head Scott Borchetta sold Big Machine Records (and all of Swift’s catalog at the time) to Braun, things got heated.
Swift was less than thrilled at the thought of him owning and profiting off her work. Work that she was not given the opportunity to purchase back unless she agreed to re-sign with Big Machine Records. She could receive back one of her old albums for each new album she released under the label. Swift ultimately turned down that deal, and Borchetta sold the label and it’s intellectual property (including Swift’s first 6 albums). Taylor agreed to a deal with Republic Records and has since advocated fiercely for artists to be able to own their work. And she’s working to own hers as well, recording each of her first six albums. This is something that Braun is not thrilled with as it essentially devalues his purchase. Streaming of her original recordings will decrease as well as the opportunity to have that music featured in tv, film, commercials, etc.
If that wasn’t karma enough, Braun may be dealing with a little more of what goes around comes around. In the past couple of days, he’s lost some of his biggest clients including Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, and J Balvin. So far there has been no reason given for the splits, but it certainly is an interesting coincidence. Is something going down that these artists were privy to and they wanted out below the news breaks? I highly doubt all of their contracts ended at the same time. So it feels like an intentional move on their part.

I came across a TikTok video this morning that speculates on that karma and that perhaps Scooter Braun could be in some legal trouble. This is all 100% speculation at this point, but as I mentioned previously, something has to be going on. These artists seemingly learned something that made them want to distance themselves from Braun. Whether is was business dealings they didn’t like, something they considered unethical, or as the TikTok below speculates perhaps legal issues.

But for those who don’t like Scooter Braun, karma’s a relaxing thought. I can’t wait to see what info unfolds next in this saga.
