Taylor Swift Accidently Ended Up At A Vegas Club With Her Parents

I love my parents. I’ll have some beers with my dad or go wine tasting with my mom. I’ve taken both of them to concerts before. But ending up at a full-blown club with them? Not on my bucket list. I don’t think it was on Taylor Swift’s either. But that’s exactly what happened post-Super Bowl in Las Vegas. And yes it’s Vegas. But Taylor Swift has been a public figure since before turning 21 so I do not find it hard to believe that she is not an expert on going out in Vegas.

When you when the Super Bowl there is obviously going to be a celebration. And the Kansas City Chiefs did it right after winning Sunday night. Though it seems that Taylor Swift, who is dating Chief’s tight end Travis Kelce, didn’t quite know what the after-party entailed. I spent much of yesterday watching videos of her at the after party especially her interactions with Kelce during her own songs (played by the Chainsmokers) “Love Story” and “You Belong With Me”. But overnight she posted a video (only on TikTok) about her celebratory night.

The caption? “Accidentally going clubbing with your parents is something everyone should try at least once in their lifetime.” The video, seen above, shows Taylor Swift at Zouk Nightclub in Vegas, along with her parents Scott and Andrea Swift. She says that she was told they were going to a “Friends and Family” event. I mean it was, but it wasn’t. Her dad especially has seemingly embraced Travis and the Chiefs, showing up to the game decked out in Chief gear. Even Andrea, who typically dresses in all black, arrived at the game with pops of red in her outfit. And I’m sure they had an absolute blast celebrating the victory. I’ve been lucky enough to meet and interact with both of them throughout my years as a Taylor Swift fan and can say they are both incredibly sweet and down-to-earth people.

Though not exactly who you expect to meet at a Vegas club. Regardless, I’m sure Scott and Andrea, Taylor, her friends, and the entire Chiefs team had the time of their lives celebrating the victory. And I’m so glad Taylor, who has spent so much of her life in the public eye not able to truly be “in public” had a great time experiencing Vegas nightlife. She’s missed out on so many “normal” activities so the fact that she felt comfortable (security in tow) at this party makes me extremely happy for her. If this happens again next year with Scott and Andrea be invited and or willingly attend? Who knows! Swift is headed back overseas this week for her shows in Australia beginning Friday (or Thursday in the US).

  The first surprise song of the 2024 Eras Tour was “Dear Reader” This Midnights 3am track hadn’t been played live before. It was also the first song after she announced The Tortured Poets Department and yes I’m reading something into that- choice of “reading” used intentionally.

  I had chills watching this performance. One of my favorite songs on one of my favorite albums is Holy Ground and somehow it’s exponentially better acoustic. And those vocals? Girl.

  Taylor pulled out a true surprise with this unexpected track that was featured in the Hunger Games Soundtrack. She played the sister track to Eyes Open in 2023 so not shocking, but certainly not expected!

  The two “E” songs seem like a random coincidence to me. But this slowed-down version of the Speak Now Valut Track Electric Touch was powerful and gave a whole new light to the track. This leaves “Foolish One” as the lone Speak Now Track to have never been performed live.

  Taylor started off with “Superman” a Speak Now Deluxe Edition track that hadn’t yet been played on The Eras Tour. One line says “he’s not all bad like his reputation” and fans that still think Reputation Taylor’s Version is coming sooner rather than later (perhaps even before The Tortured Poets Department) definitely read into this.

  This was one of the deepest pairs of surprise songs we’ve seen. Taylor rarely ever has played “The Outside” a track on her debut album about struggling to fit in, being on “The Outside”. She reminded us that she wrote this song when she was 12 years old which may as well be “175 years ago” at this point. 175 days from now is Friday, August 2nd and if Taylor Swift Taylor’s Version is released or announced that day I would not be the slightest bit surprised. The performance showcased the growth of her vocals, and a song she wrote about middle school still resonates today.

  Taylor can sing this as a surprise song as often as she likes. It’s clearly a favorite- it was featured in the Eras Tour Film. And it’s the only song to at this point have been performed three times. It’s one of my favorites (and most related to Taylor tracks ever), inspired the friendship bracelet trend, and perhaps even her relationship with Travis Kelce. (I’m not crying you’re crying).

The performance was just as haunting as I imagined, and the crowd screaming the bridge “I wouldn’t marry me either a pathological people pleaser who only wanted you to see her” is something I must experience in my life.   I can’t decide my favorite track from Folklore or even the most relatable track, but “This Is Me Trying” is right up there. This was actually one of my surprise songs on night two in Glendale just over 11 months ago. That may factor into my love of the song as well. Everyone can relate to the idea of doing their best but it’s not good enough and no one notices. And this track shines on piano.

I kind of love this trend, it’s telling the songs from different Eras that Taylor relates to each other. And her ability to combine them seems effortless. Plus it personalizes the experience even more. I hope this trend continues. Also, I’m going to need official audio of every song and mashup on the entirety of this tour. That’s a must.

  I’m still salty that this and “Tim McGraw” weren’t included on the setlist. Two of my favorite Taylor Swift songs and two songs that mean so much to me.   Oh my heart. This mashup is fascinating to me. On the one hand, New Years Day is about the comfort of being with someone that you love the little moments, not just the parties or the highlights. In contrast, Peace is about the fears that Taylor’s life couldn’t give someone (in this case Alwyn) “Peace” because of who she is. So on the one hand she’s singing about having that comfort but never being able to truly give it to someone else. The way her mind works is fascinating.

  Taylor woke up and chose violence with this mashup of Speak Now‘s “Haunted” and folklore‘s “Exile”. Try as I might the only word I can use to fully describe this performance is ironically “haunting”. These are two fan-favorite tracks that I would have never paired together but they compliment each other so well.   She just keeps upping the bar. “Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve” is a Midnights 3am Edition track widely assumed to be about John Mayer. “Ivy” off of 2020’s evermore is a song full of layers.   Perhaps it’s because of the costume and chair props Taylor used during her performance of “Forever + Always” on the Fearless Tour but I’ve always associated this track with the color red. Even years before RED was an album/track. So to pair it with a track given the title of a different shade of red- “Maroon” my head is spinning. (Again this woman’s mind will never cease to amaze me).

  Taylor continued her mashup trend, and while I adore the musicality and seeing the parallels she makes, I still think there is a meaning to is. The “twos” mean something as they have been present not just in the surprise songs but in a lot of her actions lately. This combination of two songs that never fail to make me smile Speak Now’s lead single “Mine” and RED‘s “Starlight” about Ethel and Bobby Kennedy is just a happy light. I would have never paired them together, but it makes oh so much sense.

  Taylor is known for her “easter eggs” or the hints she drops about upcoming things. She also knows how deep fans go into solving these and I suspect gets a lot of enjoyment out of fans “clowning”. We all thought that it was Reputation Taylor’s Version being announced when instead it was The Tortured Poets Department. People still suspect Reputation TV is coming sooner rather than later. A lot of people even guessed Singapore Night One. So when Taylor went live on Instagram just to play these two songs, the theories started flying. “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever “wasn’t on Reputation, instead it was on the 50 Shades Darker Soundtrack, but it was during the “Rep Era” and then “Dress” of course was on the album. I’ll spare you my deep thoughts on this matter for now. But if you are a Reputation fan this mashup was everything.

  I don’t see all the combinations of songs coming, but this one just made too much sense to not predict. Evermore’s “Long Story Short” and Speak Now‘s “The Story of Us”.   Listen all of these mashups have been incredible. But this one, which followed the announcement of the final The Tortured Poets Department edition/bonus track (“The Black Dog”) is nothing short of elite. Clean is a fan-favorite track off of 1989 about getting through a trying time that can be interpreted as many things and finally being “Clean”. This song means a lot to a lot of people. And then if you haven’t seen the original “Evermore” secret song performance, specifically Taylor singing the second chorus and the bridge, well you’re missing out. It’s quite simply one of the best live performances of her career. I’ll be watching this on repeat until the end of time.

Call It What You Want is one of my favorite songs for her to play acoustically (the clip of her writing it during the Miss Americana documentary is everything).   When I tuned in to one of the worst live streams I’ve watched throughout this tour and was finally able to make out she was singing “Babe” I was thrilled. This is a track written by Taylor but recorded originally by country duo Sugarland. She included her version of the track on Red (Taylor’s Version) and if I recall correctly this is the first time she has performed it solo. Sugarland joined her once in Nashville for a performance of the track. But that’s not enough because we are in the worst of mashups these days and Taylor chose to pair “Babe” with Lover’s “Death By A Thousand Cuts”. A song with one of her best bridges ever. And one of the places where Lover shines brightest. I love this pairing!

  Ok I thought “Babe/DBATC” was elite. This is it. I don’t think these mashups get topped for me after this one. The only way would involve “Tim McGraw” somehow but I’m truly not sure what she could put it with that beats this. “Fifteen” off her sophomore album Fearless and “You’re Own You’re Own Kid” a retrospective track that created the friendship bracelet tradition off of Midnights. I’ve been saying since the beginning of the tour “YOYOK” was my dream surprise song. It’s only competition? “You’re Losing Me” once that song was released and my all-time favorite Taylor song that isn’t on the setlist “Tim McGraw”. So anything with “YOYOK”  is elite. But you pair that song with another in my top 10, one that contains my favorite lyrics of all time “Fifteen”. I was not ready for this one. Is this the first time “Welcome To New York” has been performed as a surprise song outside of the greater New York area?
