North Carolina Social Media Star Tops Forbes Top Creators List

It truly is a social media phenomenon. If you had told people even 10 years ago that people would be getting rich and making careers off of social media, many wouldn't have believed you. But between apps like TikTok and Instagram as well as YouTube being and "influencer" or "creator" is one of the most lucrative jobs out there. It's actually a little sickening just how much money some of these people are bringing in. I could go off on a tangent about some of my opinions on this. Some are probably popular opinions others might be a little controversial but I'll spare you that for another day. Forbes just released their top creators list and sitting at number one is a North Carolina social media star. Mr. Beast You may have heard of Mr. Beast or Jimmy Donaldson as he is legally named. His 312 million followers have led to earnings surpassing $82 million. His YouTube videos consist of high-production videos and stunts like taking a giant shredder to a Lamborghini. While this type of content doesn't appeal to me personally clearly millions upon millions of people are fascinated by his stunts. And while they are expensive to pull off and produce, the return on his investment is clearly there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBpQ1SlfVtU The Money isn't just in  the ad revenue from his hundreds of videos. Mr. Beast also has a brand of snack bars, a restaurant chain, and merch bringing in the benjamins. Every day I ask myself where did I go wrong? Other creators on this Forbes list include Jake Paul, Charli D’Amelio, Emma Chamberlain, and Alex Cooper. According to Forbes, these individuals and the rest of the top 50 list are "reshaping the worlds of media, marketing, entertainment, and taste." Check out the full Forbes top 50 list which includes other North Carolina social media personalities as well, here.
