After two decades of music and a new number one album under their belt, the Backstreet Boys have been one of the most successful boy band reunions in recent memory. After a brief stint without Kevin Richardson, the group came back together and has been thriving ever since. A 39-year old mother from Maryland is going viral on TikTok after sharing her experience as a fan in Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” music video.

Devon Daniels was 17 when she appeared in the video. Since then, she has tried to get her now teenage kids to understand the significance of being a part of musical history. Daniels explains in her TikTok video that she and her best friend were able to get up close and personal to the boy band. She even shares some pictures from the 8-hour shoot, something fans nowadays aren’t able to do.

Although Daniels has shared her experience on TikTok, she doesn’t allow her children to have social media. She said, “I have told my kids they can make their own choices when they go to college, but I don’t want them on social media before then”. She continued, saying, “I just want them to have an adequate understanding of what they’re putting out there.”

Imagine another fan going viral years from now, but instead of the Backstreet Boys, it’ll be a fan of One Direction or 5 Seconds of Summer!

Are you keeping your children off social media? Do you think fans have more or less access to their favorite artists? If you could’ve been in a music video as a teenager, what song and artist would you have chosen?
