Elliot Page attends The IMDb Studio on September 07, 2019 in Toronto, Canada.

Elliot Page chatted with Oprah about coming out as transgender and how it affected his life. The Umbrella Academy actor talked about what brings him the most joy. He said, “Getting out of the shower and the towel’s around your waist, and you’re looking at yourself in the mirror, and you’re just like, ‘There I am.’ And I’m not having the moment where I’m panicked.”

He adds, tearing up, “It’s being able to touch my chest and feel comfortable in my body for the- probably the first time. Tears of joy.”

Page also spoke on the current situation surrounding anti-trans legislation, saying, “The backlash right now is so intense. But the rhetoric coming from anti-trans activists and anti-LGBTQ activists — it’s devastating. These bills are going to be responsible for the death of children. It is that simple.”

Page’s full interview with Oprah will air on Friday, April 30th on AppleTV+. You can see small snippets in this video from Entertainment Tonight.
