Here are the best ways to avoid allergies this year:
- Dry, windy days are the worst for pollen, so try to stay inside on those days
- Find a friend or hire someone else to mow your lawn, pull weeds, and other gardening chores
- Shower once you get home and remove clothes you've worn outside
- Check your local pollen levels to track how high pollen levels are each day
- If pollen counts are expected to be high, start taking medicine BEFORE you get allergies.
- Close doors and windows at night
- Avoid activity in the early morning; this is when pollen counts are often the highest for the day
- Use dehumidifiers, air purifiers and the air conditioning in your home.
Hopefully, the quick tips will help you breathe a little easier this Spring! If you are someone who knows this time of year really does get you, then it's best to kick things into overdrive. Setting up your home, office, and spaces that you frequent properly can really help you tackle those seasonal allergies. No matter where you live, allergies can be tough to deal with. A South Carolina town made the "Worst Allergy Cities List." It turns out, location can make a big difference in how severe symptoms are for those suffering from pollen allergies. And thanks to a new report, we know which cities make it the most challenging.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America has determined the “Allergy Capitals” of America in 2023. Where it’s harder for residents with allergies to avoid flare-ups. One South Carolina city made the list! Keep reading to see which one!

10. Greenville SC

Greenville comes in at No. 10 with their allergies seeming to be worse than ever before. I am sure the population growth in the area is also making it a bit more extreme as more and more people move there. Allergy medicine usage and pollen have reached an all-time high for Greenville this year. There is also a number of allergy specialists that are in the area having to deal with the number of allergies that are there.
9. Des Moines, Iowa

For 2023, Des Moines, Iowa is coming at number 9. They have an extreme number of allergy specialists in the area to help those. They also have an increasing number of allergy medicine and pollen scores that are over the average.
8. Orlando, Florida

The place where dreams come true and all the magic happens, Orlando is coming in at number 8 on the list. Allergy medication, pollen, allergy specialists, and the number of people that live there are all leading factors to this number.
7. Cape Coral, Florida

We're still in Florida. Cape Coral is number 7 among the allergy cities in the U.S. Sounds like Florida might be one of those places where allergies are booming.
6. Sarasota, Florida

Guess what! Still in Florida. It's Sarasota this time though. For 2023 they are the #6 city worse for allergies for 2023.
5. Tulsa, Oklahoma

Number 5 on the list is Tulsa, Oklahoma. They have a worse-than-average score for all things such as medication, specialists, and pollen that effects people's allergies each and every year.
4. Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

We're still in Oklahoma, yet again. Oklahoma City is the number 4 city worse for allergies. They have a higher than average score for pollen, medication, and allergy specialists that are in the area.
3. Scranton, Pennsylvania

Oddly enough, the number 3 city has a pretty average score for pollen. It is weird that it makes it this high up on the list. But, the allergy medication and specialists have led it to be where it is on the list.
2. Dallas, Texas

Now, one thing we know is Texas surely has a lot of allergy issues. They have a worse than average score in all areas. Texas is pretty strong when it comes to allergies so if you have them be sure to be careful during allergy season.
1. Wichita, Kansas

The number one worse city for allergies is Kansas, Wichita to be exact. They exceed all states for pollen, allergy medication, and access to allergy specialists in all of the U.S. Be careful if you plan to go out there anytime soon and already having allergy issues here.
