Valentine’s Day can definitely get expensive, depending on how you choose to celebrate it. Whether you’re going out to eat, or staying in, usually flowers are always a must for Valentine’s Day.

A dozen red roses have become synonymous with Valentine’s Day, but those can also get expensive. Just how much do you need to shell out for flowers? This new study from FinanceBuzz breaks it down for us.

According to their new study, the average cost of a dozen roses in the US is $80.16. That price can vary drastically based on what state you’re in too. For example, in Hawaii, where roses are the most expensive, you can expect to pay $108.33. Meanwhile, in Pennsylvania, a dozen red roses will only put you back by $66.15.

As for the Carolinas? Well we’re under the national average, which is good. A dozen red roses will cost you around $74.96 in North Carolina, and around $78.31 in South Carolina.

So yeah, a dozen red roses can definitely get expensive.

Here’s an idea that will save you money, and be more sentimental this Valentine’s day; make your own bouquet. While some bouquets from the grocery store are less than impressive, lots of grocery stores sell individual packs of flowers, and you can essentially design your own bouquet that way!

Best of luck to you this Valentine’s Day!
