It’s another weekend in the Queen City, and can I just say, after over a year of pretty much nothing going on, it is so nice to see more and more events popping up each weekend. If you want to do something this weekend, here are some events going on around town you can check out!
FRIDAY
Black Food Truck Fridays
- 1600 West Trade St.
- Support local Black entrepreneurs and sample an array of cuisines at Black Food Truck Friday.
- 3-9pm.

Sun-Dried Vibes
- The Music Yard at 2433 South Blvd.
- Local reggae/rock trio, Sun-Dried Vibes will take the stage at The Music Yard this Friday.
- 6-11pm.

Goodyear Arts Doomsday Clock Curated
- God City at 301 Camp Rd., #200
- In this exhibition, 17 multimedia artists give their interpretation of the Doomsday Clock through art inspired by comics, philosophy, world history, Reaganomics and Saturday morning cartoons.

Blumenthal Performing Arts Open Mic Night
- McGlohon Theater at 345 North College Street
- Prepare yourself for an impressive lineup of instrumentalists, singers, dancers, storytellers, poets and other acts. While performer submissions have closed, you can still attend the show as an audience member. Seating is first-come-first-served, and if you can’t attend in-person the show will be live-streamed on the Blumenthal’s Facebook page.

Glow + Drop Sound Yoga
- Alchemy-C3 Lab at 2525 Distribution St.
- This isn’t your regular yoga class. It incorporates DropSound noise-isolating headphones to help you tune out the distractions while you breathe and work out under neon and black lights.

SATURDAY
Catawba River Races
- Whitewater Center 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy.
- This series of morning races offers competitors multiple ways to test their skills in the water between open water swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, or flatwater kayaking. Competitive or recreational divisions are available for each activity.

Yacht Yoga with YogaSix Cornelius
- 18020 Kings Point Drive
- Join YogaSix on the roof deck of the Carolina Grace Lake Norman for an open-air yacht yoga session. All yoga levels are welcome. The class will be limited to 20 people. Be sure to bring your mat and some water.

South End Farmers Market
- 2120 South Blvd.
- Swing by Atherton Mill to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables and other goods from local vendors or simply to walk along the rail trail.

Uptown Farmers Market
- 300 South Davidson St.
- Shop from over 40 vendors selling fresh fruits and veggies, meat and poultry, and artisan foods and baked goods. Plus, the Uptown Farmers Market is on a mission to address food insecurity in our area, so consider making a donation while there.

University City Farmers Market

- Pick out fresh fruits and veggies and shop from local farmers, artisanal food makers and pop-up chefs.

- Join fitness studio West Kept Secret at Optimist Hall for an outdoor, high-intensity interval-based workout. All fitness levels welcome.

- In this class, Chef Rosana will show you how to make the colorful, summer sweet tarts from scratch. You’ll learn how to make the dough, classic pastry cream and techniques for carving the fruit to make beautiful designs.

Mint Museum Outdoor Gentle Flow
- NC Yoga Bar at 500 South Tryon St.
- For the month of June, NC Yoga Bar will host yoga classes outside in the blocked-off street of West 1st St. in-between Tryon and S. Church. This is an all-levels class so grab your mat, your water and your friends and reset with this 60-minute gentle flow before popping inside to explore The Mint Museum Uptown.

Markets at 11 in Ballantyne’s Backyard
- 11611 North Community House Rd.
- On the second Saturday of every month, Ballantyne’s Markets at 11 will feature outdoor yoga, live music, local vendors and food trucks.

‘It Takes A Village’ Opening Celebration
- the Mint Museum Randolph at 2730 Randolph Rd.
- This exhibition is a collaboration between The Mint Museum and three of Charlotte’s innovative art collectives: BlkMrktClt, Brand the Moth, and Goodyear Arts. The opening celebration will have music, food trucks and an informal conversation with the artist collective co-founders of BlkMrktClt, Brand the Moth and Goodyear Arts.

The Hippie Dippie Festival & Market

- Whip out your flare jeans and flower crowns for this fun hippie-inspired market. There will be reiki & chakra readings, DIY flower hairpieces and festival face glittering/painting.

Future Feels Featuring Party Pupils

- Get pumped, because the funky, dance/electronic duo Party Pupils is coming to The Music Yard. You might recognize them from their remake of Ginuwine’s single, “Pony.” The group will be accompanied by Clark on the Sax & Jerry Feels Good.

Courtyard Cinema: The Sandlot

- Grab dinner from your favorite Optimist Hall vendor, then sit out in the courtyard for a screening of perennial favorite The Sandlot.

Lost Worlds Summer Market

Arts at Queens Outdoors – Damn Tall Buildings
- 1900 Selwyn Ave.
- Enjoy music from Brooklyn-based bluegrass trio Damn Tall Buildings on Queens University’s beautiful campus.

Concert in the Gardens at The Duke Mansion
- 400 Hermitage Rd.
- Enjoy an intimate concert with The Bechtler Ensemble in the charming setting of The Duke Mansion gardens. You’ll hear music spanning the globe including works by Russian composer Alexander Scriabin and Armenian composer Alan Hovhaness. Wine and cocktails will be available for purchase.

Billy Sunday Big Gay Bingo

- Join Billy Sunday for Big Gay Bingo. A portion of the proceeds from Billy Sunday pride cocktails this month go towards local nonprofit PFLAG Charlotte.

Counterculture Club Outdoor Yoga Series
- Camp North End 1824 Statesville Ave.
- Channel your inner zen and join Counterculture Club Yoga in the Boileryard for their weekly outdoor yoga class at Camp North End. Fit for all levels. Bring a yoga mat and some water.

ALL WEEKEND
River Jam
- Whitewater Center 5000 Whitewater Center Pkwy.
- It wouldn’t be summer in Charlotte without River Jam. Bring your family or a group of friends out for live music performed by an array of artists across multiple genres. Taking the stage this weekend is southern rock group AFTM on Friday, followed by Lord Nelson on Saturday.

Vintage Market Days of Charlotte
- 4751 NC Highway 49
- Make a day trip to the Cabarrus Arena to shop upscale vintage and vintage-inspired treasures. Wares include original art, antiques, home decor, clothing, jewelry, outdoor furnishings and seasonal plants.
