This is horrible!
I was up at Crowders Mountain just two weeks ago for my first time, hiking it, so this is hitting close to home.
A woman was injured after she fell 15 feet at Crowders Mountain Tuesday afternoon. Gastonia Fire Department arrived at the scene just after noon on Tuesday. The responders had to hike about a mile to get to the woman.
Authorities say the woman was climbing with another person and fell about 15 feet near David’s Castle, an area located a mile away from the radio towers toward the north end of the mountain.
The woman was then rescued and taken to a nearby hospital, and luckily, there are no life-threatening injuries. Still, this is very scary. I didn’t even get too close to the edge on my hike cause I had fears of falling.
