A New Miss Universe Has Just Been Crowned
And the crown goes to…
… Miss Philippines!
Catriona Gray won the 2018 Miss Universe pageant on Sunday night, beating 93 other women representing their countries. Interestingly enough Catroina Gray actually had ties to the United States; for college, she went to the Berklee College of Music and studied music.
The 24-year-old singer and model said she wore red because “when I was 13 my mom said she had a dream that I would win Miss Universe in a red dress.”

The pageant had lots of discussion and hype leading up to it because of a first; Miss Spain, Angela Ponce, competed as the first transgender contestant in the competition’s history.
