This Is The Perfect Temperature For A Good Night’s Sleep
There is nothing worse than not being able to sleep well because the temperature isn’t right. And why is it that it significant others are always opposite; one likes it hot and one likes it cold? I for one prefer a freezing cold room to sleep in.
As it turns out, your bedroom temperature actually could be dictating how restful of a night sleep you have. So it’s time to finally settle the debate and figure out what is the perfect temperature for a good night’s sleep.
According to Accuweather, who interviewed, Dr. Michelle Drerup, Director of Behavioral Sleep Medicine at Cleveland Clinic Sleep Disorders Center, this is what she has to say about a “perfect nighttime temperature.”
“For most people, the ideal range is having the thermostat set between 60 to 67 degrees Fahrenheit for the most comfortable sleep,” Dr. Drerup said. “So 65 (degrees) is kind of the number that’s given. Really anything over 70 (degrees) is too toasty and hot.”
According to the doctor, people who sleep in rooms that are too hot, are often more stressed when they wake up the next day. So there you have it; 65 is the perfect degree to have your thermostat at before going to bed.
If it were up to me, I would have the thermostat set at 63 when I go to sleep. I love bundling up, and getting extra cozy at nighttime. Luckily my boyfriend also likes it cold, or we would definitely have a problem.
