States With The Lowest, And Highest Life Expectancy
We all want to live a long, happy life. Unfortunately, that can’t always be the case for all of us. However; if you live in certain states, you life expectancy might be better than others.
The National Center for Heath Statistics just ranked all 50 states, (and Washington DC) based on resident’s life expectancy. It should be noted that the data looked at is before the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here were some of the results of the study.
States with the lowest life expectancy
- Mississippi – 74.4 years
- West Virginia – 74.5 years
- Alabama – 75.5 years
- Kentucky – 75.5 years
- Tennessee 75.6 years
States with the highest life expectancy
- California – 80.9 years
- Hawaii – 80.9 years
- New York – 80.7 years
- Massachusetts -80.4 years
- Minnesota – 80.4 years
As for the Carolinas, for North Carolina the average life expectancy is 77.6 years, while South Carolina’s is 76.8 years. As a whole it looks like living in the South isn’t great for your life expectancy. That’s okay though, I’ll just remember what my grandma always told me, “it’s not how many years you have, but what you do with them.”
