Signs Along Popular Charlotte Road Ask Drivers To Slow Down
It’s no secret that Charlotte has its fare share of bad drivers. One notable neighborhood in Charlotte is sick of drivers speeding on their road, and they have taken matters into their own hands.
If you’ve driven down Queens Road recently, you’ve probably noticed the road lined with signs that say, “Slow Down.”
The neighbors who live along Queens Road in Myers Park have posted the signs in their yard, urging drivers to be more careful. According to WCNC, Kendra May is one of the neighbors who helped organize the sign campaign. May says even though the speed limit is posted at 35, she is shocked to see how fast cars speed down the residential road.
The group is in talks with Charlotte Department of Transportation (CDOT) to try and find a more permanent solution, but until then, the signs are all they have.
Charlotte is interesting because you have so many populated areas separated by neighborhoods, like that of Myers Park. It means that lots of people have to use that road to get where they are going. Unfortunately for home owners, it’s also a residential area which can be scary for pedestrians on the road as well.
I’m not sure what the solution is, but I think we can all be more considerate, and courteous while on the road!
People who frequent the area told @KendallMorrisTV it's not uncommon to see drivers speeding well beyond the posted 35 mph speed limit. https://t.co/RjhQAHup6j
