Study Finds 1 More Hour Of Sleep Can Help You Lose Weight
Sorry boss, I’m gonna be late into work…
Losing weight can be extremely difficult, and frustrating, but a new study is giving a simple answer on how to help lose weight; get more sleep.
The new study, published Monday in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine explains that just one more hour of sleep a night could help you lose weight. Participants in the study went into a “sleep extension” program (which sounds like my dream). The study found that by sleeping for 1 hour longer a night, participants consumed about 150 less calories per day. Here’s the wild part; over a 3-year period, that could add up to a 26 pound weight loss.
That’s not all too surprising. I know late night snacking can be a huge problem, but dang if it isn’t just so satisfying.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says adults should get a minimum f seven hours of sleep per night. I know seven hours can even be difficult to accomplish sometimes, but if you’re able to make your sleep 8 hours a night, it may have some positive affects on your body over time.
All this sleep talk has me needing a nap!
