Most of us, including myself, grew up on Disney movies! Even now, I’ll find myself enjoying a classic Disney movie from time to time. There can be a lot of great messages in their movies for kids(and adults) watching them. With that being said, some fans are over one particular storyline that is often used.
One trop that seems to always be used in Disney is that of the “evil stepmother.” And some fans think that should end.
from Cinderella, to Snow White, to Tangled, whenever there happens to be a stepmother in a Disney film, they are often depicted in a negative light.
Now, fans have created a Change.org petition to, “Feature a stepmother in a positive role in a major animated Disney film”. The petition is actually starting to gain a lot of tracking too.
With there being so many blended families in America these days, I think it’s a good idea to have a good, healthy example of a blended family in a Disney film. What do you think?
Hi, I'm Cameron! I was born and raised in North Carolina. I'm a super tall redhead who is always down for tacos, enchiladas, and margaritas. Okay, so Mexican food is my personal favorite, but I’m not saying no if you’re trying to eat out on the town anywhere. I I am on air for middays but also the Program Director for Kiss 95.1. I enjoy connecting with Kiss 95.1’s amazing listeners and being able to bring all of my favorite things like food, wine, and life online into digital content.
