Experts Say Air Fryers Aren’t Always The Healthiest Choice
I have bought my ticket, and made myself VERY comfortable on the air fryer obsession train.
Air Fryers have quickly become a kitchen must have. According to GrubStreet,10 million air fryers were sold in the US between 2017 and 2019. The reason they have become so popular is that many people have latched onto the idea that air fryers are a the best way to make a quick and healthy meal. But is that really the case?
Experts say this…
There are definitely benefits to an air fryer; mainly the lack or oil. Using an air fryer can cut 70 to 80% of calories from your diet compared to frying in oil. Air Fryers can also cut back on the total fat intake too.
Some experts however, say there isn’t a guarantee that air fryers are actually heathier. Rachael Hartley, a registered dietitian and author of “Gentle Nutrition,” tells her clients this
“… air fryers aren’t necessarily healthier, it’s just an easy and low mess way to cook dishes that have the satisfying crispness of fried foods. Instead of thinking of them as a dieting tool, think of them as a tool for cooking simple and satisfying meals without a lot of fuss”
She also says there is zero research on the claim that air fryers can help you lose weight.
So here’s the bottom line that I took from this article; air fryers can make fried foods a little more healthy, and can help with counting low calories, but you have to make sure your diet is balanced because just because you put it in the air fryer, doesn’t make it healthy.
