UNC Chapel Hill Moves To All Virtual Classes After First Week Back Causes Huge Coronavirus Spikes
I hate to say it, but I say this one coming.
UNC-Chapel Hill announced they will be moving all classes to virtual learning tomorrow (Wednesday, August 19th) after a spike in coronavirus cases on campus during the students first week back.
The school announced the decision after reports of four COVID-19 clusters over three days in dorms, apartments and a fraternity house
Chancellor Kevin Guskiewicz and Provost Bob Blouin said in a news release,
“As of this morning, we have tested 954 students (last week) and have 177 in isolation and 349 in quarantine, both on and off campus,”
The University had planned to do a hybrid of virtual classes, and in-person classes, but that plan is now shifting to fully virtual.
I feel like this will be a good example of what is to come with other Universities, which is quite scary. Here’s hoping a vaccine is coming sooner rather than later for this crazy virus.
