Lorde Is Crowned on The 1,000,000,000 List For ‘Royals’
Congratulations to Lorde on making The 1,000,000,000 list for her song, “Royals.” The 2013 song has reached one billion streams as recognized by Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, YouTube Music, Vevo, and Amazon.
“Royals” topped the Billboard 200 for nine weeks, won two Grammy Awards, and was certified diamond in 2018 by RIAA.
The 1,000,000,000 List is recognized as the first award to acknowledge and celebrate songwriters. Lorde has become the fourth songwriter from New Zealand to make the list.
Some other artists that have been recognized on the list are Vance Joy for “Riptide”, Gotye for “Somebody That I Used To Know”, and 5 Seconds of Summer for “Youngblood”. See the whole list comprised of all the years here.
Hopefully, Lorde will be back soon with new music. I miss her. And it’s been since 2017 since she released her amazing Melodrama album. New music from her is definitely overdue.
