The idea of keeping up with the Jones has been around for generations. And one place many feel the pressure of that phenomenon is when it comes to your home and yard. Some of us must be doing pretty well with that, as 3 North Carolina neighborhoods were recognized as having some of the most beautiful front yards in the country.
Sure in many cases, this is regulated by an HOA. But many many people take pride in their yards as a reflection of themselves and their homes.
The styles of these yards vary greatly based on location. But they often feature regional plants and flowers, trendy or classic landscape designs, and gorgeous architecture. Probably some great yard maintenance people behind the scenes as well!
In the spirit of recognizing neighborhoods that exemplify the overall beauty and charm of the Waste Removal USA commissioned a survey of 3,000 real estate professionals. The goal of this survey was to " in order to "unveil the neighborhoods and towns which host the nation’s 130 most stunning residential front yards – an ode to America’s green-thumbed heart."
Most Beautiful Neighborhoods In North Carolina
So which three are the most beautiful neighborhoods in North Carolina? All three that are recognized were will within to top 50 of this list of 130 neighborhoods. Not bad. Not bad at all. But we all know how gorgeous North Carolina is!
27. Biltmore Forest — Asheville |
31. Myers Park — Charlotte |
35. Hayes Barton — Raleigh |
I'm incredibly familiar with Myers Park and I certainly would say it's the most beautiful neighborhood in Charlotte, if not the entire state. I could spend hours just walking the streets and taking in the gorgeous homes and yards. The stunning trees lining Queens Road West, homes that border Freedom Park, and large perfectly landscaped yards.
Biltmore Forest in Asheville is also stunning from its old money vibes, and picturesque Blue Ridge Mountain location.
While I have spent a lot of time in Raleigh I'm not familiar with the Hayes Barton neighborhood by name. But a quick Google search and I do know the area in which it is, so I can see why it is also one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in North Carolina.
The top three neighborhoods nationwide include one in Hawaii, Florida, and California. You can read the full list and methodology here!

The 6 Prettiest Carolina Beaches And Coastal Towns
13. Georgetown, SC
Coming in at number 13 on Southern Living's list is Georgetown, SC. This historic town is actually the third oldest in South Carolina so it's filled with history and charm. It's about halfway between larger tourist cities Myrtle Beach and Charleston.
10. Beaufort, NC
North Carolina's Beaufort is located on the "Inner Banks" and the "Crystal Coast". It's rich in history. In addition to the waterfront and charming downtown, visitors enjoy the two-acre Beaufort Historic Site.
7. Charleston, SC
It's not a list without Charleston making the list. The City of Churches receives constant recognition (not that it isn't deserved!) for its atmosphere as well as its culinary scene. And it's the picture of Southern Charm so what's not to love?
5. Southport, NC
Even if you've never visited South Port may look familiar to you. The historic maritime town has been the backdrop for popular movies like A Walk To Remember and The Secret Life Of Bees. The town has a fascinating history of pirates and privateers, antebellum Southern belles, and blockade runners.
4. Beaufort, SC
Beaufort is located on one of South Carolina's Sea Islands- Port Royal Island. The town is best known for its historic district featuring magnificent antebellum mansions. And features one of my favorite characteristics of Southern towns- Spanish Moss draped live oaks. While I haven't been it's high on my list of road trips I want to take.
2. Wilmington, NC
And the number 2 prettiest coastal town? It's Wilmington. This Port City on the Cape Fear River is beloved. It features a historic downtown and Riverwalk, house museums, fantastic restaurants and breweries, and the nearby Wrightsville beach. You can read some of my must-dos when visiting Wilmington here.
