South Carolina Corn Maze Named As Nation’s Best

One of the most quintessentially fall activities is visiting a corn maze. This family-friendly activity is challenging, fun, and beloved for a reason. Farms across the country take the opportunity to create corn mazes as a way to draw in visitors. There are countless of these mazes across the nation and the state of South Carolina. But one South Carolina corn maze was named as one of the nation’s best. This is according to a recent USA Today 10Best list. They were voted to that list by USA Today readers. These mazes, including the South Carolina corn maze, are quality mazes and offer numerous other activities.

Voted the 7th best corn maze in the US was  Denver Downs Farms in Anderson, South Carolina. This farm has been owned by the Garrison family since 1869. This year the fall festival runs from September 23 – November 12th. It features of course the corn Maze and a pumpkin patch as well as live weekend entertainment, lots of friendly farm animals, and bonfires. This year’s corn maze is Reba-themed for all you country music-loving fans out there. Kids will love the mega slide, tractor tire playground, gem mining, zip line, ropes course, and more.

Make a day of it with and dine at one of 6 concession areas: The Kettle Corn Barn, The Silo Canteen, Barnyard BBQ in Picnic Barn,  the Sweet Shack, the Corn Dog Shack, and Funnel Cake Barn. Denver Down Farms is open:

  • Thursday: 1p-5p
  • Friday: 4p – 10p
  • Saturday: 10a – 10p
  • Sunday: 11a – 6p

Ticket prices range from $15 on Thursdays to $25-$30 on weekends, and up to $72 for a season pass. Ticket prices include all the activities which can be viewed here. Nominees for USA Today’s 10Best are submitted by a panel of experts. 10Best editors then narrow the field to select the final set of nominees for the Readers’ Choice Awards. 7 Corn Mazes To Check Out This Fall In The Charlotte North Carolina And Surrounding Area

Fall is here! Well at least according to the calendar. The weather may still be hot, but it’s too late to wear white open-toed shoes. Which means pumpkins, football, outdoor fun, leaves, haunted attractions, and of course corn mazes! Corn mazes can challenge you, and be a great source of family fun or teambuilding. What’s better than solving a problem (aka finding your way out of the “maize”) with those around you? It’s sure to bring lots of laughs and joy. And luckily there are several corn mazes in the Charlotte North Carolina area, so there is sure to be one you’ll enjoy!

Many of these 7 farms listed below offer a variety of fall activities not just the corn maze (even if that’s the draw). Many have hayrides and pumpkins (every good farm does!). Lots have kid-friendly corn mazes as well, in case that large one is just too much for your little one to handle! They also have slides, playgrounds, and petting zoos. Perhaps grab a bite from the food truck and just experience the fall weather. That fall weather, that is hopefully coming soon!

Of course, none of these farms are in the Charlotte city limits. Where could you possibly fit a multi-acre corn maze, let alone a farm, in the city? But all are well within a reasonable distance for a day trip. This includes areas like Concord, Lancaster, Huntersville, Maiden, and more.   • Almond Farm (Concord)

    The 2023 fall season at Almond Farm in Concord will run from September 16 – November 5th. Hours will be  Monday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Not only can you experience two all-ages corn mazes, but there is also a kid’s maze! Other fun fall activities include slides, a wagon ride (certain days), play area, farm animals, and more. Get info here.

  • Hall Family Farm (Lancaster)

    This year’s corn maze at Hall Family Farm is Donkey Kong Themed. There is also a smaller maze that is Pac Man themed! Both mazes will open on September 22nd. In addition to the two mazes, there are also hayrides, pumpkins, and a play area featuring pedal cars, a jungle gym, and corn silo. Learn more here!

  • Country Days Corn Maze (Indian Trail)

    Country Days Corn Maze 2023 season will run from September 29 – November 4, 2023. This year’s big maze is Reba themed! There is also a smaller maze for those 10 and under to participate in as well. There are a plethora of other farm activities to take advantage of as well, and the opportunity to book a bonfire!   • Red Wolf Farm (Maiden)

    Red Wolf Farm is by far my favorite name of any of those locations! They will be open to the public Sept 30, Oct 1, 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29 10 am-6 pm. Admission is just $8 per person and includes the corn maze, kid’s maze, hayrides, inflatables, pumpkin bowling, and more. Learn everything Red Wolf Farm offers here. 

  • The Amazing Maize Maze at Rural Hill (Huntersville)

    The Amazing Maize Maze will be open weekends from September 16th through October 28th. There is also a night maze option and food trucks on site each day. Get the schedule and more info here.

  • Shelby Corn Maze (Shelby)

    Fall at the Shelby Corn Maze includes the Corn Maze, Pumpkin Patch, and 40+ attractions. It’s open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday September 16 – October 29th. There’s also a haunted maze Saturday and Sunday evenings in October as well as a food options, a petting zoo, zipline, and more. Get all the info here.
