KYIV, UKRAINE - JUNE 11: A tattoo artist makes a tattoo on the leg of a man on June 11, 2022 in Kyiv, Ukraine. Every Saturday a group of tattoo artists make charity events where they do tattoos, and the clients make donations to the Ukrainian army. The region around Ukraine's capital continues to recover from Russia's aborted assault on Kyiv, which turned many communities into battlefields.

Do you have a tattoo? Or perhaps you want one but haven’t bit the bullet just yet. Tattoos can be polarizing, some people love them and others would never get one. You can put me in the latter, there is nothing about my aesthetic or personality that needs something permanently on my body. However, I realize many many people aren’t like me and that’s great! In fact, searches for “tattoo ideas” have seen a 350% growth in the past 12 months. So a lot of people are looking to get one it seems! Our friends at Singulart decided to analyze Google search data to determine the most popular tattoos in North Carolina. These were their findings:

Butterfly tattoos are by far the most popular tattoos in North Carolina. You do you, NC. According to “the butterfly tattoo is a common tattoo idea for many not only because of its aesthetic beauty but also because of what it symbolizes. However, butterflies are usually designed as tattoos in order to show the happy aspects of their meanings: joy, vitality, new beginnings, and good luck.” We could all use joy and good luck! This is probably why it was not just the most popular tattoo in North Carolina, but the US as a whole.
