Taylor Swift Named No. 2 Pop Star of the 21st Century… Who’s No. 1?
Alright Swifties, don’t attack us because we didn’t make this list. But, Taylor Swift made Billboard’s list of the best pop stars of the 21st century and she didn’t come in the first place. Swifties are used to her winning, but in this case, she came in second place. Makes us wonder who has the title of No. 1.
Billboard recently named their greatest pop singers of the 21st century. They gathered the best 25 pop singers in the last 25 years and as you sit and think I am sure you are already gathering up some of your favorites you think should be on the list.
Taylor Swift No. 2 Pop Star
After making her transition from country to pop, Swift became a sensation among fans across the world. After breaking the charts multiple times with hit records and hit albums, she continues to break records. But, looks like one spot she isn’t breaking is the No. 1 pop star in the 21st century.
Swift beat out a few of your favorite artists who also made the list including Rihanna (#3), Drake (#4), Lady Gaga (#5), and Britney Spears (#6). Now, Billboard has not released who came in at #1 yet, but many are speculating that it will be Beyonce.
The comparison between Beyonce and Swift has been going on for years. With albums, world tours, and hit singles the comparisons about who is better never gets old. However, in this aspect for the pop singers, many also do not agree with the lineup. Since Drake came in at #4, some are confused about how he would even be considered for the list.
Hannah Dailey, journalist with Billboard, further explained why Swift receveied the No. 2 spot. Dailey states Taylor was “able to forcefully, gravitationally bend culture to her will and become one of the world’s biggest undisputed pop stars, despite her eight-year late start in country music.”
Now, we await the news to find out who takes the No. 1 spot. Any guesses?
