Charlotte Health Inspector Cites Local Eatery For “Live Roach”

For the record, this is NOT a real roach at Captain Jim’s ear.  A real one WAS found and cited at a Charlotte restaurant.

According to The Charlotte Observer, two Charlotte restaurants received a B grade during inspections from the health department.  Multiple violations were found including one real live roach.  He was an unwanted visitor at the Diamond Restaurant according to the paper. That place is located at 1901 Commonwealth Avenue.  It was found along the mop and sink area. To get all the details to check them out from the Charlotte Observer right here.

So I am just going to play the devil’s advocate here, this restaurant is 75 years old.  Sometimes in these older buildings, a roach CAN creep in.  This was not an infestation, this was just one roach.  One roach too many but personally I can see how this could happen.  I love cleanliness, don’t get me wrong but I can totally understand how this happened.  My husband and I went to one such restaurant (old) for some cajun cuisine a while back.  We spotted a “live roach” sort of palmetto bug variety crawling on the wall by our table.  We haven’t gone back.  I just can’t get that image out of my head.  I do understand it though those things get in everywhere.

Charlotte Restaurant Featured On New York Times 50 Best List

When you think of the best cuisine in the country where does your mind go? Cities like New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles? What about Charlotte? Well it should be on your radar. Big news for the Queen City culinary scene with the inclusion of a Charlotte restaurant on the New York Times 50 Best Restaurants list.

This list is an annual one by the publication. Each year they travel the country and eat extremely well to curate a list of the nation’s premier dining establishments. And the honorees reflect the entirety of the country including Oklahoma City,  Juncos, Puerto Rico, Washington state, and Maine. A lot of the restaurants are upscale food but you also have some sandwich shops, bbq joints, and other more casual dining options. There is also a variety of ethnic cuisine including Ethiopian barbecue, Haitian cooking, and Asian delicacies.

The one thing all 50 of these restaurants have in common? Incredible food. Some are newly opened, and others have been around for years. But you’re sure to be impressed with the quality at any of these places. So what was the Charlotte restaurant featured on this New York Times 50 best list? It was Leah & Louise! The southern small plates restaurant is located in Camp North End.
