Our friends at WalletHub took a survey of hundreds of cities in America including 150 with the biggest populations. They looked for the best places to retire and also the worst places to retire. Naturally, lots of retirees flock to Florida for the winter time of life. Half of the cities in the top 10 best cities are in the Sunshine State. Ahhhh sunny skies and crystal-clear waters do sound good.

North Carolina does not show up in the top 10 best places to retire in the United States. But 4 North Carolina cities do show up as the worst places to retire. Ouch, this hurts a little but here we go. Coming in at #50 on the list of the best places to retire in Raleigh. Not exactly up top. Durham ranked #55 on the list.

Here are more low-ranking North Carolina cities for retirement. Charlotte, North Carolina ranked #109. Winston Salem came in at #121. Fayetteville was #147 and lastly, Greensboro came in at #162. WalletHub determined the best places (and worst places to retire) on factors like affordability, activities, quality of life, and health care.
