Miss America Is Scrapping Their Swimsuit Portion
Miss America is saying BYE, BYE to Bikini’s!
Big changes are coming to the nearly century old competition. The announcement was made Tuesday morning by Gretchen Carlson — a 1989 Miss America winner herself, and the new chair of the Board of Trustees of the Miss America Organization.; the Miss America Competition will no longer include one long standing tradition- their swimsuit portion.

That’s not the only big change though; the organization is also getting rid the evening gown portion of the competition.
Gretchen Carlson simply expressed,
“We are no longer a pageant. We are a competition.”
The Miss America Competition will broadcast live on on ABC on Sept. 9.
