Christina Aguilera Will Honor Whitney Houston At The AMA’s
The American Music Awards are only a few weeks away, and just when you thought the show line-up couldn’t get any better, it has just been announced that during the show, Christina Aguilera will pay tribute to Whitney Houston by singing a medley of her hits. The tribute is in celebration of the 25 year anniversary of the film, “The Bodyguard.”
Aguilera will perform songs from the film’s soundtrack, which included one of Houston’s signature numbers, a cover of Dolly Parton‘s “I Will Always Love You.”
It seems like Whitney’s family is happy about this decision too. “Whitney herself stated in 2001 that Christina Aguilera sang the best version of her song ‘Run To You,” said the Estate of Whitney E. Houston.
As for Christina Aguilera, she had this to say about the performance, “I am honored and humbled to be asked to participate in such a special tribute of a timeless soundtrack that has been a huge inspiration not only in my own personal life and career, but to countless aspiring singers – touching music lovers worldwide and influencing the history of music itself”
The AMAs will be handed out live on ABC on Sunday, Nov. 19th
