Destination Dupes Americans Are Most Interested In Visiting
We try dupes for pricey makeup, skincare and wine, but would you try one for travel? It turns out, a lot of Americans are interested in “destination dupes” – a destination that looks and feels like a similar, more expensive one.
So, maybe you’ve really wanted a beach vacation to the Bahamas but have you been to the U.S. Virgin Islands? It might be worth the swap! If you’re trying to stay domestic how about swapping Nashville for Memphis?
According to SWNS Digital a new poll of 2-thousand U.S. adults shared their upcoming travel plans:
- This year, 61% are searching for one of these dupes to save on their trip.
- But that doesn’t mean they want everyone to know their secret, in fact, 28% admit they would pretend it was the original location, not a dupe, when sharing photos or memories of the trip.
- So why are these alternative destinations so popular? Beyond saving money, some folks just want to see a new place (56%), to avoid crowds at the more popular destination (51%), to see how similar the dupe is to the real thing (41%) or to save time (25%).
