Just recently we published a story about the popular sunflower fields around North Carolina this time of year. And, one North Carolina man shares his headache of multiple incidents of fence damage near Monroe sunflower field.

Fence Damage Near Monroe Sunflower Field

His name is Matt Stegeman. He lives near one of the most popular sunflower fields in the area. And, according to WSOC-TV, he's looking at a hefty bill amounting to $2000 for the latest fence repair at his home on West Franklin Street.

Although the incidents are seemingly unrelated to the sunflower field, reckless driving is something that could cause a problem with increased visitors to the fields.

Apparently, Stegeman has lived at the Monroe residence for just about a year and a half. And, already, there's been two occasions of drivers plowing through his fence. But, the latest one involves a driver who didn't bother to stick around after the accident.

I'm somewhat familiar with the area. It's a beautiful street, home to more than just the sunflower field. The homes on the West Franklin Street are charming historic houses, including many that folks have poured blood, sweat and tears into restoring and refurbishing. I know some folks personally who did just that.

But, unfortunately, many people barrel down the street with little regard to speed limits and curves in the roads. It's a dangerous mix when you combine it with possible increased traffic in the area due to the sunflower field popularity. Luckily, no one was present or injured in the latest incident causing fence damage near Monroe sunflower field.

It's too bad this keeps happening. And, hopefully Stegeman will find a solution to the problem involving his fence damage near Monroe sunflower field.

But, in the meantime, it's a good reminder to watch out if you're driving in the vicinity of the popular attraction. Reckless driving and pedestrians don't mix. So, just slow down and smell the flowers folks!
