The experts say these are the best beaches in North Carolina and South Carolina. How in the world can they determine that? There are so many beautiful beaches to choose from. Travel experts at Reader’s Digest scoured the country to give us the best beaches not only in the Carolinas but in the whole country.
I’m a self proclaimed mountain girl. I spent my college years at Western Carolina University. But my sister recently moved to Sunset Beach and I began to see “the beach” in a whole new light. Nothing more peaceful than a stroll down the beach. The kids love the surf. And don’t get me started on family beach volleyball.
Best Beaches In North Carolina and South Carolina
According to our source, rd.com says Emerald Isle in the Outer Banks is the best beach in North Carolina. The Travel Channel calls it the “Crown Jewel of North Carolina’s Crystal Coast”. Reader’s Digest says, you can “set off on a coastal boat tour in search of dolphins, local birds, and a glimpse of wild ponies on the barrier islands.” They had me at dolphins and wild ponies!
Experts Say This Is The Best Beach In South Carolina
Ah yes. I can see why they chose the best beach in South Carolina. I have been here many times and I concur it just not get any better than Edisto Beach. Specifically the experts say Edisto Beach State Park is the place to go. Coastal Living had this to say about Edisto, “don’t miss the 1.5-mile white-sand shoreline fringed by palmettos [the official state tree],” adding that this slice of sandy heaven is “especially beautiful at sunrise and famous for fossils and shelling.”
This Beach In North Carolina Is My Personal Favorite
Experts say these are the best beaches in North Carolina and South Carolina. One of my personal favorites in North Carolina is Holden Beach. And here is a tip if you go. When you drive off the causeway, make a left at the stop sign and go all the way to the end of the island. There is great parking there and you are right on the edge of the Island with just a waterway separating you and Oak Island.
