This Is North Carolina’s Most Haunted Campground
What a great time to go camping in the Tar Heel State. The weather is turning cooler, the leaves are changing and things are starting to get spooky. If you are planning a camping trip, please feel free to listen up. This is North Carolina’s most haunted campground.
If you have been in North Carolina for a while, you may have heard of the Devil’s Tramping Ground. Now this is not an official campground per se but plenty of people have attempted to pitch a tent and stay the night close by. It usually ends with clearing out of there before the sun comes up.
The Devil’s Tramping Ground is a North Carolina legend. It is a 40 ft. circle about ten miles from Siler City, North Carolina. That is in western Chatham County. According to Only in Your State this is North Carolina’s most haunted campground. The circle is completely devoid of life and has been that way since anyone can remember. Hundreds of years. How come? No one knows. Stories passed down say it is a spot where the devil enters the earth. And that if something is planted in the circle it is thrown out by morning. These are the tales anyway.
Rumor has it that dogs bark and growl at the spot. Sadly it has become a place for vandals as well. Warning there are no trespassing signs around the Devil’s Tramping Ground. Only camp in the legal areas, please. Only In Your State says this is North Carolina’s most haunted campground.
