South Carolina Hitting New Residents With ‘Yankee Tax’
If you’re thinking about moving to South Carolina at some point, there may be a Yankee Tax you’re slapped with. The state’s Senate Finance committee has approved a “Yankee Tax” for newcomers to the state. With over 500 thousand people moving there in the last decade and another one million expected in the next one, the Palmetto state is looking to keep up with the expenses from the population bump. The tax comes in the form of $250 for a driver’s license and $250 for vehicle registration. Both are one-time fees. Pay up Yankees hahahaha!
