Massive Charlotte Estate Sells for $5.6 Million, Sets Size Record

A massive mansion at 9235 Sweetleaf Place in Charlotte just sold for $5.6 million. At 17,000 square feet, it's now the biggest home ever sold in Charlotte's history.

Made up of two buildings, the property features a main house covering 15,621 square feet, with a small guest house adding another 1,514 square feet. The homes sit behind gates on 11 beautiful acres near Uptown. The design came from Christopher Phelps, while Arcadia Homes handled the construction.

Premier Sotheby's International Realty's Lake Norman office agent Ben Bowen handled the sale and told WCNC, "This sale represents a historic moment for the Charlotte area. It showcases the growing demand for exceptional properties that offer both grandeur and convenience."

Charlotte's luxury market shows mixed trends. While new listings jumped 33.3% and available homes increased 43.5% in July 2024, prices tell different stories. The median price fell slightly to $1,339,000, but average prices went up to $1,617,172, an 8.5% increase. But this sale isn't the most expensive in the area. That record still belongs to Grand Lac Chateau, which sold for $7.5 million back in October 2020. That house sold in just four days.

The luxury market now has 4.1 months of homes available, up from last July's 3.4 months. Experts say this creates a balanced market where buyers and sellers have similar leverage.
