Time-Saving Pumpkin Carving Hacks
I am all about time-saving pumpkin carving hacks. Even with those pumpkin carving kits, I am not the best-detailed pumpkin carver. My wife on the other hand has the steadiest hand with a knife and a pumpkin I’ve ever seen. Should I be worried about that? She free-hands the entire carving process. I just stand by and hand her the tools while I sip on a cocktail. We like to carve ours on the evening before Halloween. If you haven’t carved your pumpkin, TikTok can help you carve it way faster with the hacks below. It’s the simple things like making sure you carve it in your lap and carving it from the bottom which I never knew.
One thing I’m trying this year comes highly recommended by the TikTock’er. An easier way to loosen up the strings and seeds is to use a hand mixer. This will also make the cleaning-out process way easier. It will also cut your carving time in half. I’m a huge fan of this! When I was a kid I hated pulling the “guts” out of a pumpkin and I still do as a grown adult. Dry-erase markers are also recommended to use when you draw the face on your pumpkin. This way when you carve it, you can wife away any excess marker. Finally, if you want your pumpkin to stay moist so it’ll last longer, rub some Vaseline on the carved surfaces.

@brunchwithbabs 🎃Do’s and Don’ts of Pumpkin Carving 🎃It is a treasured tradition in our family to carve jack-o-lanterns for Halloween. But with all the yuck and mess, sometimes my kids would quit the project before we even started. Babs’ Do’s and Don’ts for Pumpkin Carving, saves the mess and speeds up carving so you can have the perfect jack-o-lantern with no mess and no fuss. Happy Halloween 🎃XO Babs 1. Carve from bottom. That way you have the stem to hold onto and you can easily slip the pumpkin right over a candle or flashlight. 2. Hold pumpkin in your lap to carve. You will have a much steadier pumpkin to cut. 3. Use a red dry erase marker to sketch your design. It erases easily and if you miss a spot, it blends in. 4. Use a hand mixer to clean out your pumpkin. 5. Use cookie cutters and a rubber mallet to carve your design. 6. Cover all cut surfaces with Vaseline to keep the pumpkin moist after carving. Pumpkins should last 1-2 weeks carved! 7. Sprinkle some cinnamon on the inside top of your pumpkin for festive pumpkin spice smell when a candle is lit inside the pumpkin. 🎃 #pumpkincarving
