South Carolina Is Not A Good Place For Working Moms Here’s Why
I’m sorry to tell you this. South Carolina is not a good place for working moms! Nearly half of the U.S. workforce is made up of women and research shows. In fact 73% of moms with kids under 18 were working in 2022. Being a working mom can be challenging, but it’s even harder for some women because of where they live. A new report reveals the states that are doing the best – and worst – job of supporting working mothers. WalletHub has just released their annual list of the Best and Worst States for Working Moms.
- They compared all 50 states and Washington, D.C. on 17 key metrics in three main areas: childcare, professional opportunities and work-life balance.
- Based on those factors, Massachusetts tops the list for the best state for working moms, just like it has in the previous two years.
- It comes in number one for work-life balance and second for child care.
- Delaware, tenth overall, is first for professional opportunities, while Minnesota, sixth overall, is number one for child care.
- As for the worst state for working moms, it’s Louisiana, which comes in 50th for child care and professional opportunities, and 38th for work-life balance.
- But even worse? South Carolina was the 2nd worse on the list!
- North Carolina was in the middle at #39
