Nightmare Or Horror Film Come True? A Snake Made In On To A United Flight
Snakes on a plane? There was at least one on United Flight 2038 Monday. This is not the news I want to hear as I’m getting ready to board a plane tomorrow. Flight 2038 left Tampa, FL in route to New Jersey with a stowaway- a garter snake. NBC News reports that passengers spotted the reptile and immediately alerted crew members. If that had been me that saw the snake on my flight no call button would have needed to be pressed. The pilot, flight attendants, and air traffic control would all hear me screaming. Reportedly once alerted crew members “called the appropriate authorities to take care of the situation.” according to United Airlines.
Who the appropriate authorities are when you’re 30,000 feet up is a legitimate question. Did they come on the loudspeaker and instead of asking if a doctor was on board ask if a snake wrangler was there? It is still unknown at this time how the snake was able to board the flight. Did it have to go through TSA? Wildlife officials with the local police department removed the animal once the plane was on the ground. The animal was released into the wild in New Jersey after landing. That’s a far different climate than the one it left behind in Florida!
I still can’t imagine having to sit in my seat knowing a snake was loose on the plane. Worst flight ever. And here I was worried I’d get sat next to an emotional support peacock. New fear unlocked.
