North Carolina Corn Maze Honors UNC Charlotte Hero Riley Howell
Miles from the hometown of Riley Howell, a corn maze is honoring the UNC Charlotte shooting victim in a unique way.
As many of us know Howell was killed when he jumped on the shooter as he opened fire in his classroom on April 30th, 2019 at UNC Charlotte. Police spoke about how Howell’s heroic actions delayed the shooter, giving police more time to respond and save others’ lives.
The Cold Mountain Corn Maize announced one month after his passing that they would be honoring the 21-year-old as the corn was just beginning to come up. Aerial photos of the maze show a likeness of Howell in the corn and memorable words. You can see more on the story here.
