Charlotte Gears Up for 78th Annual Thanksgiving Eve Parade: What You Need to Know
Charlotte’s favorite Thanksgiving Eve Parade is back November 27, 2024. Kicking off at 5:45 p.m., the parade will light up downtown streets while WCCB shows live coverage from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Making its way through downtown, the mile-long parade begins at 9th Street before heading down to Good Samaritan Way on Tryon Street. A huge crowd of 100,000 people will line the sidewalks, with a million more watching from home.
Bright lights and music will fill the streets as marching bands walk alongside decorated floats. Dance groups bring extra excitement throughout. While VIP spots are sold out, plenty of great viewing areas are still available along Tryon Street from 9th Street to Brooklyn Village Avenue. Looking for the best spot? Get there by 5:30 p.m. Taking the light rail is easy — just get off at the 7th Street, Transportation Center/Arena, or 3rd Street stations. Grab tickets at any station or use the CATS-Pass app. If you’re driving, check the event website for where to park.
Road closures started on November 25 at 6 p.m. and will continue until November 27 at 5 p.m. Everything opens back up by midnight after the parade ends.
