An Ice Cream Company Wants To Pay People For Sticking To Their Resolutions

Looking for a little extra incentive to help you stick with your New Year’s resolutions this year? It seems a lot of folks could use some help. Research shows that half of Americans make resolutions, but only 9% actually keep them. 9%?!?! What if you got paid for it? Could you keep it longer then? I could!

With that in mind, Halo Top has your back.

According to Guilty Eats, the lower-calorie, higher-protein ice cream brand is offering a sweet incentive to help folks stay on their track. They’re looking for a team of Halo Top Athletes, and the honor comes with some perks that may be just the incentive you need.

How Do I Enter?

To apply, you just have to be 18 years of age and a resident of the United States. No goal is too big or too small. So maybe there is something you’ve always wanted to do, but you put it on the back burner because there was no incentive. Now there is! You just fill out the online application, upload a picture and video about you and your goal (and, of course, why you love Halo), and wait for the next steps!

  • The 10 winners will get a thousand dollars to start. Plus they’ll be offered a $5-thousand endorsement deal that includes a series of one-on-one coaching sessions and a talent manager. They’ll also get Halo Top swag and of course, plenty of ice cream.
  • To apply, share your 2024 wellness goals on their website by January 20th. Winners will be announced on February 20th.

I’m not gonna lie; I have always dabbled in the idea of playing tennis. Last year, I started learning the game but not going much beyond hitting balls around with my hubby. Maybe that will be my goal this year!

Even those of us who aren’t interested in being a Halo Top Athlete will be able to enjoy the two new flavors they’re introducing to kick off the New Year. This month, they’re adding Chocolate Vanilla Twist, which was a limited-edition flavor in 2022, and Caramel Cheesecake, a cheesecake ice cream with caramel swirls.

No Booze, No Problem: Alternatives for Dry January

We have kicked off the new year, and many people are using it as an opportunity to ditch booze for the entire first month of 2024. The “Dry January” trend encourages people to abstain from alcohol for 31 days straight.

Originating as a campaign devised and spearheaded by Alcohol Change UK over a decade ago, Dry January serves the purpose of addressing the adverse effects of alcohol, as outlined on their website. In response to this movement, numerous restaurants and bars are adapting their menus to include mocktails and nonalcoholic versions of popular drinks, including nonalcoholic beers and wines. Although not a new concept, its popularity is on the rise.

Many sober-curious people in the United States take on this annual challenge. According to previous surveys by Morning Consult Pro, participation in Dry January ranges from 15% to 35% among U.S. drinkers overall.

Statista projects that the revenue in the non-alcoholic drinks market in the United States will reach US$526.1 billion in 2024, with an estimated annual growth rate of 3.22% (CAGR 2024-2027). This surge is attributed to an escalating demand for healthy and natural non-alcoholic beverages in the country.

Harvard Health Publishing has reported that even a one-month abstinence from alcohol can hold noticeable health benefits. A study in BMJ Open found that regular drinkers who refrained from alcohol for 30 days experienced improved sleep, increased energy, weight loss, lower blood pressure, reduced cholesterol levels, and diminished cancer-related proteins in their blood.

So, if you’re thinking about dialing back on the booze or just starting the year with a clean slate, why not jump on the Dry January train and give up beer, wine, or spirits for a month?
