If you’re planning your annual Thanksgiving shopping sprees, you’ll need to know what stores are open or closed.
Here’s the list of retailers who won’t be open this Thanksgiving according to Parade.
- Walmart - Walmart and other big box retailers were once known for their Thanksgiving and Black Friday crowds. Walmart has been closed on Thanksgiving since the pandemic. CEO John Furner said that their stores will continue to be closed on the holiday.
- Whole Foods - Whole Foods will be open on Thanksgiving but will have modified hours on this holiday and others, like Christmas. Shoppers can check local store hours online.
- Target - In 2020, Target also decided to stay closed on Thanksgiving to limit crowds during the pandemic. In 2021, the company announced that would be permanent. Its stores would be closed on the holiday to give employees a day off.
- Best Buy - Best Buy says none of its stores will open on Thanksgiving, but stores will set their own hours for Black Friday. Shoppers can check their local store hours on Best Buy's store locator.
- Kohl’s - Kohl's will close stores on Thanksgiving Day and will open Black Friday at 5 a.m., but store hours may vary by location. Like many retailers, its Black Friday deals will start early.
- Macy’s - Macy's, which is known for going all out during the holidays – from its Thanksgiving Day Parade to its iconic holiday window displays – will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, a representative for the company told CBS News via email. Black Friday sales will start early online.
- Michael’s - Several retailers, including Michaels, stayed open on Thanksgiving in 2022, according to TheBlackFriday.com. This year, however, Michaels says its stores will be closed on Thanksgiving, but will open at 7 a.m. on Black Friday, but shoppers should check their local stores' extended hours.
Dollar General will be open. Yaaay.
The Top Hangover Cures For the Holidays
The holidays are here! Here's the top hangover cures for the holidays! With all of the social events and gatherings that happen during the holiday season, there are a lot of opportunities to celebrate with a cocktail. The average drinker will suffer from four hangovers in December, according to The Sun. Adults who drink alcohol say there will be 16 occasions where they indulge. Those include work parties, dining out and drinks at home, a new survey finds.
With all that drinking, it’s no wonder people will end up with a hangover. Participants say each one typically lasts for 10 hours. But for some unfortunate folks, hangover symptoms linger for 24 hours or longer (8%). As a result, 75% say they’ll try a range of things to try to feel better, including staying in bed all day, getting fresh air and going to the gym.
The gym is bad for you, however! According to scientists, you should make today a rest day if you’re hungover.
No, You Can’t Sweat Out A Hangover. If you think you can get the booze out of you via your sweat glands you’re sadly mistaken. Research shows as little as 10% of the alcohol that your body hasn’t metabolized exits through sweat.
Part of the reason you don’t want to leave the bed when you’re hungover is because you just had some of the worst sleep ever. Alcohol increases the amount of a chemical called adenosine our brain releases. Thjis helps us fall asleep faster, but then it rapidly decreases and throws off our REM sleep.
Your Body Is Lacking Nutrients. It’s no secret that alcohol makes your liver work overtime but did you know all that effort it’s putting in also messes with your metabolism? Processing that booze creates tension on your digestive system and a struggle for your body to access essential nutrients. So your body is far from peak performance mode and you’re likely to get tired much faster than when you work out sober.
