School District Has 17 Sets of Twins Starting Kindergarten This Year
As kindergarten students headed in for their first day of school in one Pennsylvania school district, some teachers may have thought they were seeing double. According to Good Morning America, that’s because there are 17 sets of twins all in kindergarten in the Colonial School District. Can you imagine?
The district, which is northwest of Philadelphia, says it’s the “highest number of twins in a single class” in their recent history. They’re even calling it the “twin-dergarten takeover.” The 34 twins are all attending three of the district’s five elementary schools, seven sets of twins are at Park Ridge Elementary, six sets are attending Whitemarsh Elementary, while Plymouth Elementary has four sets. How do you tell them all apart?
Brianna Cox’s five-year-old twins, Colton and Keegan, are one of the sets of twins starting at Park Ridge this fall. She jokes, “I guess there was something in the water back in 2016 or 2017 or 2018.” The boys’ new school also holds a special place in Brianna and her husband’s heart because it’s where they met each other years ago when they were first graders.
Speaking of “something in the water,” I remember joking about that with my co-host Maney when he was telling me about one of his best friends from New Jersey. Apparently, the Northern Highland School District had 11 sets of twins graduate from Northern Highlands Regional High School this past summer. One set of twins being Maney’s friends kids.
The craziest part is that even though that’s a lot of twins, the record goes to the class of 2021 when they had 16 sets of twins graduate from the same school!
I have to laugh because as a parent, I had a hard time naming one baby at a time with my boys. With 2 I think I would have needed a little help. If you’re a parent with twins on the way, I feel you! So here is a list of popular baby names to get the ideas flowing. Lord knows I would have needed it!
